Looking for great resorts in and around Kathmandu? Here is our list (not in any order). The list is completely based on our analysis. You may disagree but then everyone has different tastes and preferences.
1. Shivapuri Heights Cottages
These family-run cottages are located at the north of Kathmandu central. The cottages themselves are owned by a British Nepali couple. Here you can find the bliss and peace of a rural Nepal. Yet, you are not too far away from Kathmandu.
2. Gokarna Forest Resort
This resort covers an area of 470 acres within the ancient Gokarna Forest. This is the only resort on Nepal that has an international standard 18 holes golf course and is set in a forest like environment. You might frequently find monkeys and spotted deer loitering around the course. The resort has an on-site spa, sauna, and pool.
3. Dwarika’s Resort Dhulikhel
Dwarika’s Resort Dhulikhel provides the best high-end accommodation within Nepal. The whole resort is built of locally available materials in Dhulikhel, which is about one and a half hour drive from Kathmandu. The views that you can have from this resort are very spectacular, you can see the majestic snow-covered mountains on all seasons.
4. Neydo Hotel, Pharping
Pharping is located south of Kathmandu. Here you can find terraced farmland filling the landscape. This resort is popular as a yoga or meditation retreat. The Neydo Hotel in itself is attached to Neydo Tashi Choling Monastery. Hence, you can in contact with monks who are very knowledgable about Buddhism, Yoga, and Meditation.
5. Namo Buddha Resort
You can get to Namo Buddha Resort by driving for about two hours from Kathmandu. The resort is made out of Nepali Cottages that spread out within well-tended gardens. Hence it may not surprise you when we state that the food that is prepared here is organic and comes from the surrounding garden itself. However, please note that the food is vegetarian. This resort is well situated for short hikes to Tamang village, Buddhist Monastery, and Stupas.
6.Park Village Resort
Park Village Resort is located near Shivapuri-Nagarjun National Park in Kathmandu Valley. You can get to this resort by a half an hour drive from Kathmandu. The resort is quite spacious and the gardens are well taken care of and there is an outdoor pool. They serve great food along with sports activities such as hiking, cycling and table tennis.
7. Hattiban Resort
Hattiban Resort is the 2nd oldest resort in the Kathmandu Valley. It is approximately 22 km from Kathmandu proper and about 12 km from the popular traditional Newari village called Khokana. The whole environment is quite peaceful. The resort is luxurious with good food and treatments such as meditation, massage or sauna.
