If you see at a general map of the world, you could see the Greenland map is as equal as of Africa. However, in reality, Africa is a continent which is way bigger than Greenland. Similarly, you can also find North America and Russia both larger than Africa. But, if we look at the area of Africa, it is three times bigger than North America. So, all the world maps are wrong because of the huge imbalances in country areas.
Why is it wrong?
The world map we used is designed in a Mercator projection, which has been used since 1956. These maps were used by sailors to navigate the oceans. However, the problem with this projection is that it distorts the shape and size of countries, mainly near the south and north pole.
The Gall-Peters Projection
The second popular design used on the world map is the Gall-Peters projection. In this projection, the sizes of the countries map are accurate however, their shapes get distorted.
Therefore, the current world map projection is wrong. But, if you are looking for a correct depiction of a planet, use a globe.
