May 13. Kathmandu. President of main opposition Nepali Congress has expressed huge satisfaction over the introduction of Media Council Bill in the parliament.
The bill prepared by the government proposes to fine Media Houses, Publishers, Journalists & Editors up to Rs 1 million if found guilty of damaging any person’s reputation.
Deuba has stated that freedom is their ideology and ideal, hence his party will fight against this bill in the parliament and outside.
Meanwhile Federation of Nepali Journalists is thinking of challenging this bill in the court.
