According to the Newari religion, the Newari people workship to Annapurna, the Goddess of Grains, on the full moon day for the harvest of rice. The triangular shape of the yomari is the symbol of Saraswati and wisdom.
Yomari is a simple dish that can be made easily at home. It is a steamed dumpling that actually consists of an external covering of rice flour and an inner dish consists of sweet substances like chaku.
