With more than 700 climbers in pursuit of reaching the highest summit in the world every year, it has led to huge pollution problem in Everest.
The garbage consists of several things such as empty gas canisters, fluorescent tents, climbing equipment.
The melting glaciers as a result of global warming have just exposed this garbage problem. Five years back, Nepal had imposed a rule that stated that every climber while getting down must bring 8 kilograms of trash otherwise they will lose their rubbish deposit of $4000 but even this rule is often breached.
In 2017 Nepal launched a cleaning campaign and they carried down 25 tonnes of garbage and 15 tonnes of human excreta.
