Nepal government has registered a bill in the parliament, which states that if any mega development project or industrial venture is carried out without the clearance of the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report or by breaching this report, then the concerned organization or individual will have to pay a penalty of Rs. 5 million.

The same bill makes it mandatory to study the environmental impact of national priority projects and other national pride projects.
