May 9. Kathmandu. Due to Nepali government’s negligence and unresponsiveness while signing labor agreements, Nepali laborers have been unable to get a basic minimum wages in different countries.
The most infamous country violating this is Qatar. Qatar is the richest country in the world in terms of per capita income, which is $124,930. Yet on average they only pay a Nepali worker $330 per month.
Only in Japan & Malaysia, Nepali laborers are paid the minimum wages that their citizens get. Here is a table of what Nepali workers get in foreign countries compared to the minimum wages set in those countries for their citizens.
