May 11. Kathmandu. The Department of Transport Management wants all vehicles (private & public) to install global positioning system (or GPS in short).

The Department says this will help them track lost or stolen vehicles as well as know the vehicular movement throughout the country. They have already started the process by seeking World Bank’s financial assistance for this.

The installation cost of GPS is thought to cost between Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 2,500.

However, human rights activists are worried about the public’s privacy and data misuse.
