Senior Superintendent of Nepal Police (SSP), Saurabh Rana, accused of rape, has surrendered to the police. He went to the District Police Office (DPO) on 2nd February to surrender. DPO chief SP Yagya Raj Pokharel confirmed the report.
Earlier, a woman from Dharan had accused Saurabh of rape. She said that Saurabh Rana raped her in Pathivara Hotel in Itahari. The incident, according to her, took place six months ago. Taking action on this complaint, the Ministry of Home Affairs had suspended the accused. An arrest warrant was issued against Saurabh on Sunday.
The accused Saurabh Rana was working as the head of Province 1 Federal Unit Police Office before the suspension.
SP Yagya Pokharel has said the investigation has already begun. The accuser is a married woman. She told that she had filed a complaint at Nepal Police headquarters in Kathmandu but no action was taken. So, she approached the home ministry.
The accused says he is innocent.
