The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) organized a ‘Zoom App’ virtual meeting on Monday afternoon to make public the safety guidelines related to tourism.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai was the chief guest at the event. When the minister started speaking at a virtual public function, a porn video started playing. Such activity has taken place from an ID named ‘Harris’ who entered the virtual meeting illegally.
As soon as the video played, the admin cut the video. Minister for Tourism Bhattarai refers to the problem of tourism entrepreneurs in Nepal and the loss of livelihood of the workers.
Earlier, Tourism Secretary Kedar Bahadur Adhikari had addressed the gathering. Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections have led to virtual meetings using the Zoom app, rather than meeting in most countries around the world.
In recent times, hackers have been playing pornographic videos by unauthorized access to such meetings. Such problems are also increasing in Nepal as its use is increasing. This app has been questioned regarding security issues.
The Indian government has issued a guideline stating that the app is not secure. Privacy issues have been raised several times in previous Zoom App meetings.
Citizen Lab has pointed out significant weaknesses in the Zoom app. According to him, it is not considered safe to make sensitive information public while using Zoom Meeting.
Hackers have been playing such pornographic videos by stealing the meeting ID and password when it is shared in various ways.
