Veteran Director Dipendra K. Khanal is busy working on his next film – “Aama (Mother)”. The word “Aama” evokes a strong feeling in everyone. However, this word also has a historical significance in Nepali Cinema Industry.
“Aama” is also the name of the first Nepali Film, which was made in 2020 B.S. The second film, with the same name, was released in 2051 B.S.
Dipendra Khanal is one of the highest-earning directors in Nepal. He earned a cool 20 lakhs for making “Love Love Love“. He has produced hit movies like Chapali Height, Pashupati Prasad and Jholay.

In this movie, actress Mithila Sharma is playing the role of mother while Surakshya Panta is cast as her daughter. The story revolves around the mother-daughter relationship.
The audience and cine critics have received the trailer with great enthusiasm. Dipendra Khanal, often, makes movies on serious issues. Aama is not an exception. The trailer touches on the thorny issue of health care in Nepal and the costs involved. Half shaven head of the actress Surakshya Panta adds mystery and drama to the story.
Ama will release on Falgun 9 or 21st February. According to Dipendra Khanal, the film will release on the same date in America and Australia. He further adds he sold the film rights in these countries at Rs 25 lakhs each.
Dipendra says that film shooting is at the end. He adds that his team is working on improvisation only. Dipendra Khanal is also working as the cinematographer for his film. The makers of Aama chose Ramechhap and Kathmandu for filming.
